Diversity means an environment where anybody can succeed and feel comfortable doing so. To me, diversity is a celebration of people who have different perspectives, different backgrounds, different ethnicities, different gender orientations. And it really is what makes the world exciting. And makes it fun to meet people. Diversity means to me, people, really. I think everyone in every walk of life is different and have their own story to tell, their own stuff going on. People from all walks are accepted universally without question. Which is not to say that everyone is treated the same, just that everyone should have equal footing. As an artist, I get to talk to people about their lives, about all the things that are going on. It’s very much almost like having a therapy session. If I were taking to the same sort of person over and over, it wouldn’t be nearly as interesting as having such a diverse bunch of people. Diversity means being able to express yourself. You know, cutting through some boundaries and actually showing personality to one another. Diversity is what art is all about, having a style that’s your own. I feel like it’s always important to have diversity with everybody who is an artist especially.
