Lily Gives A Car Accident Survivor Her First Tattoo (Episode 3) | Tattoo Tales

See this is why I like first-timer,
because the first-timers, they always expect the worst.
But once you start coming back, and you started getting other
spots, it’s not that bad. My name is Alexis Pearson. I’m 21 years of age.
I’m from Memphis, Tennessee. I traveled all this way
to get a tattoo with faith written on my forearm,
with doves flying from it. It means a lot to me
because I was in a car wreck when I was in the 12th grade. I was in a truck.
It flipped over three times. There were actually
a toilet seat in the back of the trunk.
It got into my arm. The tattoo will mean a lot, because when the doctors
seen the car, they actually asked me,
how did I survive? And I wanted faith
with doves flying from it, because it was
just faith in God that got me through
that car accident and made me be here today. Hi Alexis Pearson:
Hey I’m Alexis. Alexis? Yeah. Okay. Nice to meet you, babe. Nice to meet you too. I know you told me you want to get a tattoo by me,
but I have no idea what you’re interested
in getting. Okay. So I want the word faith written on my arm
with doves flying from it. And the reason why that I want
to get that tattoo, is because I was in an accident
my 12th grade year. And I got burnt really bad. Ouch I’m sorry. Yeah. [inaudible 00:01:13]. Yeah. I’m sorry. It’s okay, now you know? Yeah. I embrace it. I used to hide it,
and now I just show it off. Yeah, but see, you’re stronger. (Beep) happens and we
don’t know why sometimes. Yeah. All it is is just make the best out of whatever life
throws at us. Mm-hmm (affirmative). Is this going to be your first tattoo? My first ever tattoo, and I am scared. Ooh. The only reason why anybody should have
a horrible experience is because you went with
an inexperienced person. So honestly it’s not
even that bad. I’m going to hold you to that. Yeah. Okay. So let me go ahead and start designing it. The only thing, I do want to
take a picture of your forearm. That way I know how
I’m going to place it. Okay. So I could draw over it. The stencils on you, so you could check it out. Your story, I know you said
you want to faith and birds, and I just wanted
to customize something where it’s similar to that,
but the way I interpret it. The dove is like
a messenger from God. So he’s carrying a letter
that says, “Faith”. Faith, meaning the faith
for your story. And I added the egg, because the egg is a meaning
of a rebirth, a new beginning, and even though it was a tragedy
that has been so you, I feel like,
you’re still alive today and you had a second chance, and you’re able to keep going
and keep fighting. So that was
my interpretation of it. I like it. You like it? Yes. Okay. Let me just see if it’s dry,
so we could could get started. We’re good.
Are you ready? I’m really nervous about this [inaudible 00:02:47]. Yeah. Don’t be nervous. Honestly. I promise you
it’s not even that bad. And I’m only going to give
let go a little zap. That way you can kind of have
an idea of how it’s going to be. Okay. Okay. Ready? Yep. Oh. Yeah, right? See?
Not bad, right? Right. Okay. It’s like
I’m pinching myself. Yeah. See I told you. Yeah. Oh. Yeah. Nothing to worry about. I was scared for nothing. See, this is why I like first-timers,
because the first timers, they always expect the worst.
But once you start coming back, and you started
getting other spot. And plus the position, the area
that you picked is not that bad. It hurts at this spot. And I didn’t want to scream.
Ouch. You feel like somebody
is taking like a safety pin in my skin and going down. I’m going to do the letter, faith. I’m going to have you stay
very still not to move. Just because
it’s the letters. You doing okay, babe? Yeah. Okay. You let me know
if you need a break, okay? At any given time.
It don’t hurt to take a break. Okay. It’s a little hot. Does it help you watching it? Well, I just like to see the process of it.
Because this is my first tattoo. Yeah. Not everybody gets to see
what they’re getting. Or at least you picked a spot
where you’re able to look at it while you’re getting
the tattoo done. Do you do a lot of first-timers? Yeah, actually those are my favorite. Just because y’all always
come in when you’re like- It’s going to hurt? Yeah. Like you guys come in with a high expectation of how
bad the pain is going to be and it’s not that bad. In certain spots. In certain spots. But we are done. Yes, Yeah, yeah. You’re like, “Yes.” Yes. I thought you were going to pass out on me. I thought I was too. When I was over here slumped.
I was like, “Hmm, hmm, hmm.” All right. Oh, I love it. You like it? I love it. It’s nice. I’m glad you like it. Oh it’s nice. [crosstalk 00:05:42]. .. choice now. [crosstalk 00:05:45]. It’s unique. It’s unique
from what I wanted. Honestly, I did want to give you something
that I was custom to you. Mm-hmm (affirmative). That way you’re not walkin around with something
that everybody else has. And I love this. Oh, I’m glad, babe. Thank you so much. Thank you. Ooh. Another one? No. No. All right. Now to wrap you up.
